In addition to the information Microsoft has provided about the versions of Windows 8 coming to users the world over this fall, we’ve got some news that will no doubt distress many of the Windows Media Center enthusiasts. Windows Media Center is no longer included in any version of Windows.
Microsoft is now confirming that Windows Media Center will be no longer be included with any version of Windows 8 by default but will instead require the purchase of the higher end Windows 8 sku, Windows 8 Pro and an “economical media pack add-on “.
We have yet to find out just how “economical” this media pack add-on will be but the moment we have any information we’ll past it on.
Can’t say I will miss it. Difficult to connect to, hard to navigate at times, it has never endeared itself to me. The preview apps and Zune work better, so hopefully the Windows 8 store will soon populate with great alternatives.
